3sidedsquare – Colorplan Claret

Japanese-inspired, Melbourne-based Shoku Iku produces herb tonics and superfoods. The company recently launched a series of Alchemy Sets, each containing various tonics. For the packaging, the strikingly simple approach centres on a suite of icons, each representing a specific area of health and inspired by traditional Japanese Karesansui gardens. Karesansui gardens (dry ‘Zen’ gardens) comprise patterns formed from raking fine gravel—a very tactile experience. To reflect this tactility, the packaging uses debossing instead of printing for the icons along with Ball & Doggett Colorplan—a very colourrich, tactile stock. Colorplan is perfect for debossing and offers excellent rigidity with a nice crisp edge when constructed, protecting the product. The wording was printed using multi-hits of white on a digital press.
